There is something special about the simplicity of having a quick bowl of cereal on your way out the door. Unfortunately the over processing of grains, mixed with an over abundance of refined sugars makes store bought cereals left with little to no nutritional value.
I have discovered a way to make my own quick cereal that I can store and have on the go!! Inspired by “The Thrive Diet”, I have created my own rendition of this macronutrient rich and balanced, cereal on the go!
Dry Ingredients: Makes 4 servings
1 cup whole grain oats
1/2 cup ground flax meal
3/4 cup raw nuts (almonds, walnuts work well)
1/2 cup raisins or chopped dates (or mix it up like I do!)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1″ piece of grated fresh ginger
Combine these ingredients in a mixing bowl and then store in an air tight container.
Cereal Complete:
1 apple (diced)
1 banana (diced)
handful of berries
1 cup coconut or almond milk (buy in cartons in the dairy section)
In a cereal bowl add banana and apple. Then sprinkle 1/4 of cereal over fruit, top with berries, add your choice of almond or coconut milk (I prefer coconut) and your done!! EAT & ENJOY:)
Looks good! Do you think coconut milk would work if you want something creamy?
I would use an actual can of coconut milk and just use the thick top layer if your looking for a heavier milk. Keep the watery portion and add it to a smoothie!! No need for waste!!
Thanks!
lovely!
