Spring Has Sprung; How Sunshine Can Lift Your Spirits!!

better-you

It’s Sunday afternoon and I am sitting in my backyard enjoying the sunshine beaming down.  The air is cool but the sun is warm and ignites a motivation within me that often hibernates like plant life in the depths of a January and February freeze.  I am sure many of us feel renewed come the spring…it’s easy to feel alive with the sounds of wildlife in the trees and laughing children in the playground.  The last of the winter for me has been so busy working, that I have had no time to sit down and write…something I love to do.  Life has a funny way of busying you in a way that makes the months fly by and it’s up to each of us, to slow down and take time to enjoy the things that make us feel alive.

I want to encourage you to get outside and just enjoy 30 minutes of sunshine, work free.  Take time to listen to the birds in the trees and the rustling of leaves in the breeze…appreciate nature by connecting with it.  Taking time the time to relax on a regular basis, invokes a sense of well-being that cannot be achieved by rushing through each day. It takes only 20 minutes of sunshine a day to provide our bodies with our essential, daily requirements.  Ironically, Vitamin D is directly related to the production of Serotonin, a neurotransmitter in the body that is responsible for mood balance.  All the more reason to get outside and take it all in !!

I look forward to sharing some exciting posts to come…some topics will include:

  • Preventing Heart Disease
  • Iron deficiency
  • Vegan Chicken Wing Recipe

and much more!!
