Radical Spring Detox!!

Spring is a time for renewal and detoxification.  It’s when nature comes alive and awakens from the thaw of the frozen ground,  blossoming with life. Over the last week I have been awaken by the warm sun beaming down on my face, something I only dreamed about during the cold winter months.  Despite the feeling of spring in the air, I have been feeling a lingering heaviness around me. This morning I woke up again with those same feelings, only this time I was determined to find the root cause!  I spent the early hours researching these unexplained emotions and to my surprise, what I had discovered is that I had been feeling the effects of clutter which was occupying every corner and surface of my house!! Like the idea of Feng Shui, what I learned is that when we surround ourselves with a chaotic environment it has a mysterious way of mirroring itself in our minds; making our thoughts foggy and leaving us feeling heavy and drained.   After pinpointing the source of my emotions, I dove head first into the piles of papers and put away the bulky winter coats and boots that had been occupying all of my space.  Each pile I made disappear was another fog that had been lifted from my mind.  I now sit here with a clear head able to write freely, windows open, taking in the fresh air and the energy of spring!!  With this theme of spring cleaning, I want to translate that to our insides and share with you a smoothie recipe that is sure to revitalize your body and spirit!

So take some time this weekend to make yourself a Detoxifying Spring Smoothie to enjoy while you tackle the clutter that has been weighing you down…  blend, clean and enjoy!!

Detoxifying Spring Smoothie

Leafy green vegetables are great liver detoxifier. Parsley acts as a mild diuretic and celery helps to cleanse lymph glands as well as the liver. Organic ingredients are best to use, especially for fruit and vegetables that you cannot peel.  This avoids adding extra toxins  to your detoxifying smoothie!! i

3 leaves kale, roughly chopped
1 small handful of parsley
1⁄2 apple, roughly chopped
1 medium celery stalk, chopped
1⁄2 medium cucumber, chopped
1 small piece of fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped

Play around with the amounts of each ingredient to achieve the smoothie that suits you best!!

Juice altogether in a blender:)
